Shannon Bos and Derek Chomiak took photos this weekend! Thanks to both! (All photos used in this article are from Shannon Bos The Lethbridge Orcas returned to the pool on June 24 in Pincher Creek. Outnumbered by the host team the Pincher Creek Dolphins, the Orcas knew they would need to bring their “A” games to continue their winning streak. In the end, the Orcas won 20 of 39 possible aggregate medals to capture both the Gross and Net titles at the meet. 4 of the medal winners were the ever so consistent: Bentley Togo (6), Elliott Pilsner-Roberts (8), Lily Petry (10), and Tyson Chomiak (14), who have all won gold aggregate medals at every meet so far this season in their age groups. Ben Adserballe (right) had three top 2 two finishes this weekend, including winning the Boys 11-12 200 free, to fall one point short of an aggregate medal The Orcas swam 66 best times on the weekend, averaging over 1 best time per Orca who attended the meet. Orcas who were able to swim best times in all of their individual events were Bentley Mundell (6) and Eric Wen (12). Another statistic that the Orcas coaching staff keeps an eye on are total season points. In the table bellow, we show the top 10 male and female total Orca point scorers this season in the 17 and under categories. Those who score the most total points both attend many meets as well as rank highly in those meets. (Note: The male and female swimmer at the end of the in-season meets with the most points receives the ‘In-Season Top Performance Award’ at the year end awards banquet): Madeline Vanden Elzen (left) won the In-Season Top Performance award last season. She is currently 5th this year. Elliott Pilsner-Roberts and Samantha Clamp (right) prepare before winning the Girls 8 and Under 4X25 Free Relay Their will be no meet action Canada Day weekend. The Orcas will return to competition July 7 and 8 in Brooks for the Southern Alberta Summer Games.
